A Touching Story

In the midst of all the events and happenings this Christmas, I chanced upon a story in National Geographic, if I am not mistaken, about a story titled The Last Lioness.  I was not able to remember the guy who was doing his best efforts to breed a new generation for the remaining lioness in that wilderness but I cannot forget the seeming loneliness in the lioness' eyes.  She appeared like she is truly longing for a lion partner.  The male lions were nowhere to be found in that part of Africa.

With his hunting binoculars, the guy looks for a perfect male for the remaining lioness in other parts of the wilderness.

Food Baskets

One awesome Christmas gift idea that I encountered is a fruit basket.  It always look good in the eye to see a basket of fruits.  To have a twist with these fruit baskets, one can try the Organic Food Gift Baskets.

Raffle Prizes for the IQAs

If you think it is a television set like those with digital tv antennas IQA Tony had won, it's not.  Would you like to guess what it was?  It's pretty obvious, I know.  :-D

Many thanks to Ms. Aleta for the effort.  She was the top IQA for the year.   Her efforts to solicit raffle prizes for the annual Christmas event of the team is truly commendable.  It was a selfless move actually.  Not many people can work on something for others.  And she is not alone.

Best acne treatment

Pimples started to appear again on my Daryl's face.  But he is not in need yet in need of the best acne treatment.  They are only pimples, not acne or the inflamed ones, where some even have cyst and nodules.

But I am not sure about those at his back.  Though they are only a few now, they are some that look like slightly bigger than a pimple, red and swollen.  Some are even achy.

Arson or accident?

Last December 15, 2010, we were horrified to see the flames of an ongoing fire at the back of a company just across the street.  It seemed so near.  Fear gripped my inner being as I watched the blazing fire.  I thought of the many beings who will be left homeless, and those that could possibly be hurt, and worst, if it reaches the nearby manufacturing company of industrial gases.  I was horrified of the thought that during explosion, tanks will be thrown our way and many more will be affected.

In panic, my son was telling Papsie to call the fire station.  Papsie retorted that he's sure somebody had already called up.  Maybe because of the confusion, and at the same time, fear, that me and Daryl felt, I snapped back at how he seemed so careless.  But he was right, a few minutes, volunteer fire trucks came.  Not one government fire truck was seen though.

Finding Work in a Different Land

There are some friends who are planning to go abroad.  One of them is interested in getting a health care job.  A healthcare job bank will surely be of help.  I mentioned it to another friend who will be migrating to the U. S. in the future.  Her field is chemistry and she is not quite sure if she can be able to land a job in her field.

The thing is, not all people can perform in health care.  Not all people have the patience and service that are primary requirements for the job.  Not all people are equipped for this kind of job.

Do I Want a Plasma TV set?

No, I don't.  Why?  It is because the house is not that big and I do not have enough money to buy those samsung lcd screens.

I first saw this big screen TV (I was not sure if it was 40") in Papsie's cousin's house.  It was amazing to see it first time.  It fits in that spacious house and in that recreation space they have for the family.

Like a Fire it Spread

An incident caught the attention of workers and employees alike.  The blabbermouths are on the rise, of course.  News spread like fire.  A lot is taking interest.  It was like fresh buns out of the oven.  And the culprit is happy, and rotting to the bones.

At first, it seems like it is sad that the one with the louder voice was misconstrued as the oppressor that harassed and berated the browbeaten 'victim'.  If the blabbermouths listened intently and carefully, they could have understood what it was all about.  Those who witness only witnessed a loud voice without truly knowing what it was all about.  Then the verdict.

One Christmas Eve

In 2009, there were a number of Christmas gatherings that I had to attend to, and partly organize.  That Christmas eve of 2009, we had to attend to Papsie's cousin's Christmas celebration.  I cannot forget it and the pendant lighting in that house always remind me of my late mother-in-law.

We did not have an idea it would be Nanay's last Christmas celebration.  And everytime I see that pendant lighting, I am reminded of her.  And I feel sadness at the same time for Papsie.

Try it out, said she.

Try it out, said she.  She was an insurance agent trying to buy me out.  I did not consent myself into giving in.  After a few years, the company was in the news because of an anomaly.

A tie for Daryl

Speaking of ties, Daryl tried one day a polo shirt given to him by his ate Kay. It looked good on him.  After a while, he put on a tie and marched to the old cabinet with a built-in mirror on it, took a good look at himself, then marched back to the sala again, then back to the old cabinet.

How they have grown

Last night, there was a meeting in the house.

[caption id="attachment_2211" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="the kids now"][/caption]

The meeting was about the upcoming Christmas party.  As I look at them, including my kids, I cannot help but realize that I am already growing 'old'.  Add to the fact that there is that cute little toddler in the middle doing funny tricks.

Hayyyy... old age.  Inevitable old age.  But to see them going along peacefully and harmoniously makes the heart confident that there will probably be nothing damaging that will happen against each of them.  Now, I am being optimistic.

Does Your Company Need a Rack Mount Computer?

I was thinking about why a particular company would need a rack mount computer.  Somebody told me about these set up where use of a rack format enclosing cases are common in companies involved in the business that make use of servers.

It makes me ponder if they can be of use in a manufacturing set-up.  I think it could be, especially if the organization will decide on placing their computing and network equipment only in one location minimizing multiple work stations and economizing work movements.  The whole process can actually save time, and of course, money.  That is if the benefit will be seen this way and focus will be on the long-term results.

What a lovely thought to be able to materialize  what one perceives as the right way of running a business.  It is only the fuel that is missing.  I should have won the lotto!

Overshoes in a Tropical Country?

I have to say that I am amazed to discover in neos overshoes online store that there is something that is called overshoes.
From Google, there is a list of definitions:

- footwear that protects your shoes from water or snow or cold

- a waterproof shoe worn over an ordinary shoe during wet weather

This makes me think of the possibility of a pair of overshoes in a tropical country like the Philippines.  Because I haven't seen nor tried one, I practically do not have an idea if it will click.  I presume, it will be helpful during the rainy days as it will protect our shoes.  Still, I think of it as being awkward to put on.  That's just me anyway.

The shoe below is a typical example:

Interesting Facts about Tea Tree Oil

Daryl used to have smooth face free of acne or pimples.    Recently, I see pimples on his face.  Probably because of long nights and stress from studies.  It maybe because of environment's pollutants, and other factors.

Today, tea tree oil for acne, which can also be used for dandruff and athlete's foot, is said to be effective.  But I am a bit wary if it can be used by the teens and with delicate skin.

Tea tree oil originated from the Australian tea tree leaves where the oil is used medicinally.

Website Directories?

I know this blog is already out of exposure.  Traffic is slow.  Blog friends have forgotten.  Because I also have forgotten?  Oh, guilty as charged.  Actually, I have not forgotten.  Who would forget my blog friends?  I have enjoyed exchanging thoughts and ideas with them.  I have learned a lot from them.  I was inspired by many of them.  Who would ever forget such a very nice experience?

I have to admit I miss them.  Actually the best web directory can give you traffic but the warmth of the replies and thoughts from blog friends is what really matters.  A blog is always meant to be interactive to me.  Even with a lot of traffic and no one to share a thought with, the whole purpose of blogging is defeated.

Website directories truly work especially if you pay for the traffic.  But it is always the friendship that matters.  It is always the consonance and the fusion.  It is the cordiality.

I miss them a lot.

Family Bonding

How important is family bonding to you?  Bonding, from Dictionary.com, is the process by which individuals become emotionally attached to one another.  It is also the close friendship that develops between adults, often as a result of intense experiences.

For me, family bonding is very important.  It strengthens the relationship of each family member.  It makes every family member feel that there is a place and there are people one can go to when in trouble, or afflicted with emotional predicaments, or when the world seems to be the adversary.

Once in a while, when there is a chance, and enough resources, our family makes it a point to be with each other, and enjoy the company of each other.  Whatever differences we have, each of us will bear, and understand, and if necessary, forgive.

When there is no money, or no enough money, we stay at home and watch DVD.  Or we prepare food to gobble and enjoy.

He was in rehab

I know someone who was in rehab a year ago and he is back to his dangerous self.  It made me think in connection to this if there is a facility that can be considered the best rehab.

If in the US it is not easy to determine the best rehabilitation facility, how much more in the Philippines?  It is sad to think that it must be the reason why that guy I know is back to his old habits again.

Addiction is a life threatening and potentially fatal problem, as it said to be, but I believe that treatment facilities are equally important as the treatment itself.   There are a few considerations in choosing a treatment facility:

  • caters even to those who are atheists or agnostics

  • caters even to those with psychotic or eating disorders

  • caters to a patient's need to develop self-confidence, self-reliance, and connection with nature

  • caters to the needs of each gender

  • caters to the separate needs of adults and adolescents

  • caters to the need to detox

  • caters to the extended need of a patient undergoing recovery

The Halitosis of the Mind

I actually find this definition for gossip very funny.  It's the best description I encountered so far.   The author's unknown.  What a pity.

But the world seems so interested about everybody's business which is none of anybody's business.

Weight Loss Supplement Replacement

With a dose of lamentations and disappointments on a daily basis, one will not be needing weight loss supplements.  Kidding aside, with the many stressful things that are happening, and when one takes them really hard, these supplements are not necessary.

The other day as I was welling up because of disappointments, I suddenly realized that I should never given in to these negative feelings.  I vowed after that moment to move on and focus on the positive things even in the midst of these predicaments and concerns.

I am a survivor ever since and I know I can do it.

Christmas this year

Christmas has always been a tradition of merry-making and reuniting with family and relative.  It would be the first time that we will celebrate without Nanay.  It would be the first time that we cannot put on the bright and lovely christmas 2010 ornaments.

I have to respect Papsie for this.  He's the one who decided not to decorate the house this time for his mother.  I understand the difficulty of dealing with the memories of the beloved.

What will you do if you win the lottery of half a billion?

To date, no one has won the lottery of more than half a billion pesos in the Philippines 6/55 Lotto. I have asked a few friends who took time to bet what they will do with the money. It is so funny listening to their plans. Honestly, if I will decide to bet on it, and win (crossing my fingers now), I do not know what to do first as I asked myself this question.I just hope that I will not get a heart attack.

Contemplating on it, while in the US it is announced, here in the Philippines, the winner is kept secret. It is the winner's decision if he or she is going to reveal his or her identity. Well, it is understandable because with the many hoodlums here waiting for the victims, one will definitely get scared.

And that is it. The first thing I will do is to keep mum about the whole thing and tell everybody in the family to be silent about it. Of course, I will deposit some of the chunks to different banks, embark on a business, give business capitals to my siblings, repair the house, etc, etc. It is truly overwhelming just to think about it but the chance is truly slim as only 25% of the combination were bet on. And now, I ask you, what will you do with the money if you win?

Insurance concerns

As I watch a documentary in a local channel, I think of how people can easily be lured by the promises in a policy and the affordable insurance quotes.

In the documentary, an insurance policy holder claimed that the insurance agency rejected his application to get his claims for his hospitalization for heart ailment because it was included in the list of excluded ailments.  Browsing the policy that he has, it was not excluded.  When the agency sent him a copy of the policy, it was a different one.

Choosing Bathroom Faucets

The most common problem that is encountered with a bathroom faucet is when the gasket becomes loose. Bathroom faucets of today however are designed to last and are reliable. The designs, too, are varied and one can choose from many varieties.

I am not after elaborate designs. I am always for simplicity and functionality. These also count when choosing bathroom faucets.

Even with furniture and home designs, I would opt for minimalist designs.  We do not need so much in this life.  We do not need intricacies and complexities to live.  :-D

Would You Consider a Ceiling Fan?

I worked before in a manufacturing company that produces electric fans.  I was a part of the Production department.  All types of fans were produced - desk fans, stand fans, exhaust fans, box fans, auto fans and ceiling fans.  The company excelled in producing desk fans and stand fans but the least I liked about the products are the ceiling fans.  Unlike Hunter ceiling fans,  those units did not pass my taste and I actually did not recommend these products.  How could I do that when they are buzzing when turned on, and it really felt like they will fall on my head?  :-D

Are You Going to Buy Fat Burners?

Are you going to buy fat burners or sweat it out to burn the fats?

Both of these strategies have its pros and cons.  Sweating it out, or in other words, exercising, will require so much of your time and focus.  Buying fat burners does not require much time because all you have to do is pop in the pill and voila!

Birth Announcements, How Ironic

Life gives unexpected twists and turns.  While everyone is commemorating the day of the dead, birth announcements are all over.  It is as if there is always a tug of war between creation and termination.

With the advent of cards, including electronic ones, well wishes or words of sympathy are conveyed easily.  How ironic that with technology thoughts on birth and death are also similarly communicated.

Beginnings are nothing but a reminder of endings.  Maybe a sad thought but it is undoubtedly true.  When someone comes into our lives, the thought that someday the beautiful relationship will end will cross our minds.   Of course nobody wishes for it to end but it happens.  Sometimes it does not. Still, beginnings are bound to end.

Positive thinking has to encourage us that there is nothing wrong when something ends.  It should keep us going...

November 1 Side Dishes

I am not going to talk about November 1. The stories are so common we can almost memorize them – how the traffic had intensified, how people prepare for the occasion, how to take care of self from criminals and accidents, etc.

It is after all a celebration in a celebration. We celebrate or commemorate the day for the dead but also we celebrate life itself. We are there in each occasion of November 1 to be with the living also. I guess that is what matters most. And, oh, they say, November 1 is for the living and November 2 is for the dead.

Side dish one is about the concept behind the building of a mausoleum for the dead. Inside the car, my two children are very vocal about their sentiments against creating one, thinking about the massive space provided for the already dead members of the family. They think it is an exaggeration to have one for the dead because they are, as a matter of fact, already dead. How can the dead appreciate all the magnificent structures built for them when they are not with us anymore and is in another dimension that we are not even aware of? What about the poor people of this country who have no place of abode and are vagabonds? They are living and yet they are in a harsher position than the dead with the fact that the dead do not know any of it, and these poor living creatures feels every pain of being a homeless person.

Papsie mentioned about the mausoleum as status symbol. If that is so, it is not about the dead. It is about us, the living and our selfish need to always be recognized, or be above others. Then I answered, maybe it is all about tradition and culture in our country. Maybe it is about gathering of relatives, a sort of reunion to some. In this occasion, we pride ourselves with the kind of family we have, with the closeness and unity we have for each other, although superficially at times.

Side dish two is about discipline. Filipinos fall short when it comes to self-discipline. We go and visit the graves, reunite with the relatives, and eat food with them. It is a picturesque scenario but spoiled by the garbage and litter all around the graves. How can we not learn from all the tragedies caused by these rubbishes?

Why Would You Opt for HGH?

There are claims how human growth hormone can benefit an individual.  One claim is that it can slow or reverse the aging process.  The other claim is it increases the secretion of the natural human growth hormone for the benefit of the user.

If it is for the purpose of slowing down or reversing the aging process, I would not opt for HGH.  I mean, I want to age gracefully.  They say we all die once, but before that we only grow old once.

If it is to increase the secretion of the natural growth hormone for tissue repair, muscle growth, brain function, physical and mental health, bone strength, energy and metabolism, then maybe I'll give it a try.  But having all these benefits, I tend to ask if it is an overstatement or an exaggeration of the benefits.

The Power of Positive Thinking

This is from the article of Remez Sasson of SuccessConsciousness.com.  I just want to share it.  It is a beautiful one similar to what M* shared the other day of being successful in what one wanted in life.
Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.

Not everyone accepts or believes in positive thinking. Some consider the subject as just nonsense, and others scoff at people who believe and accept it. Among the people who accept it, not many know how to use it effectively to get results. Yet, it seems that many are becoming attracted to this subject, as evidenced by the many books, lectures and courses about it. This is a subject that is gaining popularity.

Maybe it is the reason why M*'s wishes are coming true and only an arms reach.   She told me a secret how to do it.  I will start tomorrow.  Actually, I could have started it a few days ago but I let other insignificant things cause me to forget it.

Cheers to you M*.  I sincerely wish all the best for you and your family.  From the bottom of my heart.  :-)

I Miss Exercising

Exercise is always better than fat burners.  I have to admit that the latter is a faster way to loose the flab,  aka fat.  But exercising always give that satisfaction.  I guess it is because hard work gives the feeling that you had achieved something.  What more if you reached a goal?

I have to admit that my desire is not consistent.  Too much concerns, I guess, flood the mind and defeat the desire.  Well, I am still not successful in going to bed early, or in not staying up late.  It is also one of the reasons.  I do not have enough sleeping time.

Fat burners, however, are categorized according to a few things.  These will help you pick the best one for your body:

  • fat burning power

  • fat burning speed

  • ingredients

  • possible side effects

  • customer testimonials

  • overall value

In the meantime, I got to work something out of this situation.  How about you?  Are you successful in your exercise routine?

A Psychotic Movie

We had just finished watching The Uninvited at HBO.

The movie was more like a psycho movie than a horror movie.  It was as if that it was a ghost movie at first because there were ghosts appearing here and there.  It was as if the ghosts appeared because of a message they wanted to convey about the second wife of his father.

We were all thinking that everything that transpired in the movie was true.  At the end, everything happened only inside the mind of the psychotic girl.  She was creating the story all inside her mind.  She lived in a make-believe world.  She pretended that all of the scenes were true.  All because of one evil motive - to kill the current wife of his father.  She succeeded killing the wife.

Pretensions equals psychosis?  Explain.  Explain.     :-(

It has ended. It will begin.

It has ended.  Period.
To betray, you must belong.

Thus said Harold Philby.  There is no changing that.  That will not change.

So, tomorrow, it is another day.  A different self.  Realization.  Positive thoughts.  Moving on.  Leaving them odds and ends.

I will never dignify by talking about foolish talk.  One clarification is enough.  Nothing to talk about anymore.

It has ended. Period.

What M* and Hubby Should Know

Friend M*'s hubby work as a seaman.  He had a terrible accident while he was in a shipping vessel last year.  He obtained injuries like dislocation of clavicle and fractures.  The incident almost claimed his life.

It was a good thing that his company paid for his hospitalization and medication.  But still, M* and hubby should know the benefit of, say for example, a Jones Act lawyer .  Having one can help a seaman or anyone who works in seagoing vessels know his rights to claim when dangerous accidents that could risk their lives and livelihood happen.

Arriving to his home, M*'s hubby told her that she could be an instant millionaire if he died on the accident.  We laughed at the remark while talking to each other about the incident.  From that discussion, although it sounded like a morbid one, her hubby told her that she can claim for a compensation which is truly a big amount.

Working in maritime truly is not a joke because it entails a seaman's risk while working.  It is just right that each of these workers are insured.  It is just right that they know, too, what the insurance policy the company gave is all about.

85 Days to Deletion

My web hosting service had sent an email prompting me to respond.  The day the letter was sent, it said that I only have 45 days to renew the order or else the account will be deactivated and subsequently deleted.

My, my, there is an 85-day period before deletion.  I have to work for the payment the soonest possible time.  I could not afford losing this blog.  It means a lot to me.  :-D  But enrollment is making itself felt.  Only more than a week or so, son Daryl will be reminding us again about his tuition.

The Anatomy of a Friend's Betrayal

Sometimes it is too late to realize that you are with the wrong kind of friend. Realization is a remiss but you cannot do anything with it anymore.

How do you say a friend is betraying you?

Not easy, I say. But there are ways to skin a cat. Betrayal is revelation of a person's true character and intentions. Every form of betrayal has an intention that goes with it. They come in varied forms that only the victim is aware of. And sometimes, the victim is not even aware that it is happening. Sad, but true.

Hoodia Reviews

First time for me to hear of hoodia.   The hoodia reviews are telling about this wonder plant called hoodia gordonii that is used by tribal groups in some parts of Africa.  It is the herbal elements of this plant that is used to treat diabetes, stomach discomfort and tuberculosis.  It was also know that some bushmen eat the stems of this plant to reduce their appetite during long journeys.

About Sleeping

Lately, I am experiencing difficulty sleeping successively and continually.  I would wake up in the middle of the night unexpectedly, sometimes from a bad dream.  Do you think natural sleep pills could help?  I am not sure.

I heard from the elderly that sleep disorders are common to old people.  But I am not old, I mean I am not super advanced in age!  I am only 45 years old.

But sleep disorders like insomnia and narcolepsy is not dependent on an individual's age.  Insomnia, which is a 'chronic ability to obtain high quality sleep' is caused by stress, changed time zones, altered sleeping habits or poor bedtime habits.  This, I probably have.

I would not desire to have narcolepsy though.  Who would want to have a neurological disorder that makes a person asleep all of sudden and without warning.  What if I am in the middle of a meeting, or aboard a passenger jeep or bus?  I could not even imagine being the center of attention because of this.

Maybe I should be getting some sleep now.  Or I should improve my bedtime habit.

Or Maybe a Mobile Phone

Or maybe a mobile phone from circuit city is what I'll give Daryl. While I am toying with the idea, he will definitely tell me not to buy an expensive one.

My children are not demanding. Perhaps it was brought about by the orientation when they were children whenever they want something. We were consistently telling that we will buy the things they want if there is enough money.

Of course they will want a blackberry but they know there are more important things to consider first before having one.

Christmas is fast approaching and it looms than excites me. Daryl will be amused definitely by this idea. :-D

Daryl Jules Deserves an Award

Daughter Kay told Papsie and me that she is going to reward Daryl money because he did good in his subjects mostly getting high grades in his subjects (as high as 1.0  :-)  ).

The other day son Daryl greeted me with a smile and two bookmarks when I got home.  I was puzzled what the bookmarks are.  I thought he took an effort making bookmarks for me to use for the new books that are in queue.  But when I read what were in the bookmark, I smiled.  They read "Exam Topnotcher" and "Eagle-Eyed Awardee".

I was truly happy.  But I have no enough money to buy something for him.  I would actually wanted to buy him an ipod nano.  Daughter Kay has an ipod but not an ipod nano.  He would definitely love it because it is multi-touch and Daryl loves to play his favorite songs.  He loves music though music doesn't seem to want to reciprocate it :-D !  Or maybe I would buy one for him as Christmas gift.  I will start saving now.  :-(

Crab Mentality

I have this inkling that Filipinos do not own the trait 'crab mentality'.  I was a member of a discussion board.  The process is simple.  You post a discussion, you will get replies.  You are to join discussions.  You will be paid with the activities you do - posting and joining discussions.

In a few weeks, I gained a reputation of 98.  The highest being a 100 of course.  I posted a discussion that caused controversy to some and I had to defend my principle and my discussion.  After a few days, my rating went down to 95.  To date, it was brought down to 84.  Only when a particular mylotter who raised the controversy posted and visited the latest discussion I posted.

I know it is not fair to accuse without proof but I really have this inkling that that person is pushing the (-) button to the content of that person's heart, and that is to pull others down because that person has a low reputation.

I am not actually 'very affected' but it would be hypocrisy to say I am not.  I am pissed off but I have to maintain peace.  Unless I can find a way to know who is pushing the negative button and why.

Pieces of vitamins or one multivitamins?

Have you heard of an actor who was known to be taking at least twenty (20) pills a day?  That includes his medicine and his vitamins.  He is already at his prime but he still looks good in his age.  Actually, better looking than other male actors younger than him.

I wonder, do we really need to take a lot of pills for the vitamins or one pill with multivitamins is enough?  I am just curious.  Is there truly one that is the best vitamins for men and women?

They say that the best multivitamins has to fall into these criteria:

  1. effectiveness

  2. speed of results

  3. product safety

  4. long-term results

  5. customer feedback

  6. overall value

Well, aside from being costly buying a lot of pills, I personally cannot imagine taking down 20 pills a day.  That could feel like I will die when I fail even for a day not taking them.   I mean, if the body is so used to the routine, would it not react if one suddenly stops taking all those 20?

Running for a Cause

Talking with Papsie's boozed up friends last night, one of the topics was about the coming barangay elections.  Listening,  I learned that there was a candidate who sounded sensible because of his proposal to keep the hush-hush earnings for projects.  He did not win.  Why? Simple, the greater part of the majority does not desire losing the hush-hush earnings in their pockets.

I was probably naive to think that there is truly a noble cause why these candidates run.  I thought that at least there is a number that truly cares for the constituents' welfare and the barangay's improvement.  I learned that those candidates who had been on the run for many years are truly running for a cause - to fill their pockets with hush-hush earnings, or to become rich because of ill gotten money.

The barangay electoral system in the Philippines had been marred with greed, corruption, and chaos, for a long time.  Still, I have this wishful thinking that this will change in the future though I know it is just as near to impossible.  Some are ready to kill for a position, or to covet the position even in the most bloody way.  Some cling to the position even though their constituents had been denouncing them for long.

The anatomy of barangay elections in the Philippines stems from its culture of being clannish or family-oriented.  It may sound like it is a positive attribute but it is with this essence that unqualified or incompetent people are elected to a position.  It is not about a candidate's capacity to govern, or serve, it is about how much money they use to buy a vote, it is about how much percentage of the clan a candidate will win over, or it is about their ability to thwart the truth and the lies therein,  or to coerce their constituents to vote for them.

But it also stems from the constituents' unwillingness to change.  They vote for the same incompetent person because of the personal favors they will be getting in the future.  They sell their votes for a need but are not worried how much the act would cause them in the future.  They are negligent and uncaring that they do not take courage making their voice when these evil politicians openly cheat.  They tolerate the misdeed because they foresee the monetary gains they will have by agreeing to the evil deeds, or being silent about an obvious cheating.

Technology in the Medical World

Technology is providing IT professionals and clinicians what they need to facilitate work. It is truly beneficial for them that with it comes the equipment and accessories they need in their line of work and to serve clients and patients in the fastest way possible.

It is a wonder that today products like medical computer carts, medical cart accessories, and medical cabinets are already available to be utilized for professional services and as solution to many activities and procedures required to do the medical jobs. They are also available in different brands of choice.

I Need to Promote this Blog!

They say a directory submission software could help.  If I have enough money, I can give it a try.  But for now, I will be focusing on the traditional ways of promoting this blog and that is through social networking, submission to directories, exchanging links, and joining discussions and forums.

Hiphop Abs Exercise

Instead of clinging to weight loss pills (which I haven't tried ever since), I thought of giving a go to an exercise routine instead.  It is an aerobic exercise routine with hiphop dance.  Very interesting actually.  I thought at first, it would be as easy as eating pie because I am fond of dancing.  It was what I was good at during high school though nobody discovered it ha ha ha :-D.

But woe to me!  I am having a hard time keeping up with the exercise routine.   There are steps and movements that really rock.  If I will be sticking to the plan, in a few months, I will definitely say goodbye to the flabs!  I am keeping my fingers crossed at the moment.

It Does Not Seem to End

[caption id="attachment_2056" align="alignleft" width="225" caption="Helen"][/caption]

I am amused that up until now, my high school classmates had not gotten off from the excitement of throwing banters at the posted pictures in Facebook.  They seem to have liked it so much to exchange jokes at everybody.  If one is 'pikon' surely he will be the object of it all.  So high-school-ish.  Ha ha  It does not seem to end.  Not that I wanted to end but the exchange have not died until now.  It is one way for everybody actually to experience laughter virtually.

On another note, Helen, the one who sponsored a party for our high school class, is going back to the US.  Back to work actually.  I was told she had not missed a day visiting places here in the Philippines and eating Filipino dishes in all her days of vacation.

Small Circles, Big Circles, Dark Circles??

It is so fun to look at how little children begin to learn to draw small and big circles.  But before a mother takes pleasure on how well the darling child is acquiring knowledge, it would take her to sacrifice a lot for the child from the time she was born up to the time she becomes a toddler that will not deprive the mother anymore of sleep during nights.

The other day, I saw Jennifer Lopez' picture with her eyes covered by make up to hide the dark circles.   In a news, it was said that she is fighting off dark circles with caviar.  Yes, caviar.  Not really the actual caviar but a beauty product with caviar.

Pop Your Pimple, Do You Do This Often?

In relation to blackheads on the nose, there is another problem that bothers most of us.  These are the pimples.  I usually do not worry about them because very seldom one can see a pimple on my face.  When I have one, I make it sure I do not touch it nor pop it.  I was told by a friend that it could infect the pimple.

If one pimple bothers me a lot, how much more if it grows big and is infected and multiply at the same time!  If you have been popping your pimples, you can try visit www.pimplepopping.org and they will tell you how damaging the activity is to your skin.  The site also recommends products that will ease the problem on pimples.

Bills Equals Best Diet Pills

That sounds like an odd title, is it not?

But it is true.  Those bills are enough to give you stress and affect your health.  People do not stop searching for best diet pills not knowing that the stress caused by the bills plus those domestic concerns can actually make you loose your appetite to eat.

A Night Without Stress

I just wanted to mention that I had a blast with my high school classmates last night of September 17, 2010 at Astoria Plaza in Ortigas sponsored by classmate Helen from Virginia.  It was a fun night full of laughter and childish banters.  It made me forget about my stressful life.

The thing was this second gathering was more full of fun.  I guess it was because during the first meeting, everybody is trying to feel, or trying to assess how each and everybody will reconnect again after a long time.

Are you bothered by blackheads on your nose?

I asked my friend if she is bothered by blackheads on nose.  She said yes.  It is not difficult for her to get rid of these blackheads because she has this accessory that she uses to scoop while she pricks the blackhead.

The Holidays are Coming!

The holidays are coming!  The ‘ber’ months are already here.    Once again, I will be listing down the names of the people I will be giving gifts.  Most of them are women and they vary from age to sizes.  This time I wanted to give dresses to them although I think I have to have a guide to holiday dressing.  I believe that when we give gifts they have to be timely and useful at the same time.

But then, as I mentioned, these women friends vary.  Therefore I should choose clothing that will be fitting for each of them.  Tall women have a specific cut of clothing just for them which could be a little different for those who wear petite clothing because they are petite.  Maternity dresses for the preggy ones also have a particular cut different from all others.

During this season and with this plan in mind, I wish I am like a fairy godmother that with a stroke of her wand, a complete wardrobe collection for women will just appear!  It would make my life easier.

Reasons You Were Not Invited to a Party

In a discussion I started in MyLot, with title Will you be hurt when you are not invited to a party?, I discovered that many people still get hurt or feel bad when someone close forgot to include them in the guests list.

I have to admit that there was a point in my life where I ask myself why I was not invited to a party by a known friend or an acquaintance.

Sexy Costumes?

Had you experienced going to a masquerade party?  It just came into my mind if people who will go to this kind of party will be interested donning themselves with sexy costumes.  Catwoman flashed in my mind.  She is always an epitome of sensuality to me.  With such a sexy costume that she wears, anybody who will wear the same will be the star of a masquerade party.   Not one will ignore someone with such a sexy costume.

I wonder if this Catwoman sexy costume

UP Won the 2010 CDC

The University of the Philippines won the 2010 Samsung-sponsored Cheer Dance Competition held at the Araneta Coliseum.  When UST performed, I was amazed and said to myself maybe they are going to take the title from FEU.  I really thought that they will become the champions.

But when UP entered the dance arena, my attention and belief shifted.

Slideshow in a Debut

I prepared a slideshow for Kay's Debut last January 24, 2008.  I have to say I was puzzled by the reaction of my daughter.  Perhaps at that time, she did not expect me to show some of the pictures.  She acted so strange in two of the pictures actually.  I just shrugged it off and did not bother to ask her why.

But slideshow preparation for me is a very nice gift for an occasion like a debut.  Up to now, it is a puzzle why my daughter screamed in something like more of a disgust over two pictures.  Maybe there was a story to the picture? I really do not know.

Joining MyLot

I have a recent addiction.  It's MyLot.

MyLot is a discussion board where you can 'discuss topics about anything and everything under the sun'.

Currently, I have discussions that solicited a number of opinions.  The following are my discussions that caught MyLotters interest:

And there are many more.  Sometimes it is frustrating to read insensible and senseless comments but I have to understand that some people are not fluent or eloquent in the English language.

If you want to join, feel free to do so and visit the page.

I Don't Want a Detox Treatment Someday

Most of my friends know that I drink alcohol.  I go for brandy.  But at times the thought that I could be addicted to alcohol scares me.  I don't want a detox treatment someday.  Do you know what a detox treatment mean?  It is a treatment after the process of detoxification.  It sounds simple but like any detox process, I know it could not be any less easy.

I would prefer a detoxification process to rid the body of the harmful elements brought about by poor diet and over indulgence with food.  But not a detox process because alcohol or a drug has to be removed from my body.  Aside from the stress that will be caused by people because one is an addict, I can not afford to subject myself into any treatment of that sort.

So I drink in moderation.  Even if life's concerns can be deluded at times by alcohol, in the morning, they remain.  One cannot ditch these concerns with alcohol.  We all have to remember that.

Would You Prefer Enamel Cookware?

It is so nice to see an enamel cookware like the one in the picture above but it would not fit a busy kitchen like Aling Isang's carinderia.  Aside from being costly, one cannot use metal utensils for these cookware.  They are very prone to scratches.

But these cookwares are said to be durable and do not react to food substances.  If you wanted to have your food cooked evenly, they are the best.

I believe that they are best for home use only and not for commercial use.   And if you ask me if I want one.  I do, who wouldn't?

Having a Break with Cyndi Lauper

I just came from work, so tired.  The food Papsie prepared is so good - chicken in white sauce! Yum!  It gratified the hunger which was lingering for the past few hours in the office.  I didn't even have time to eat.  Sometimes work gets in the way really.

Is an online degree worth it?

A high school friend earned her online degree as medical transcriptionist.   She was a business management course graduate.  I asked her how she managed and she told me it was not easy.  But concurrently, she is having the feel of it and is enjoying.  Good for her!

I had a lot of times think about it, and wondered what online degree would suit me.  My primary objective is to be able to have an additional job that would give me additional income.  I desperately need it.

Black Friday

I do not know if Black Friday is equivalent to Friday the 13th.   If it refers to Friday the 13th, then it is any 13th day of the month that falls on a Friday.  Some people say it is a day filled with bad luck.  I personally do not believe it.  Any day is a blessing from God.

Black Friday is also the day of shopping after the American thanksgiving day.  I heard that during this day, there are many items or products for sale.  It is a day where many Americans look forward to.  Well, even if you are not an American but you are in America, you could really take part in the said occasion.

Black Friday is also the last Friday before Christmas.  I am not aware if this is celebrated.

Good Friday is also called Black Friday by Catholics.

Scared for the little sweet guys

They are so sweet.  One time we were together, I asked them who's gonna bring me to another country.  All three raised their hands.  The pretty one told me she'll bring me one day to US and little mister handsome replied he'll bring me to Japan.  The youngest didn't know what to answer but she raised her hand.

They have dreams but I am very scared for these little sweet guys.  I am scared that one day they will be found in a teen drug rehab or a teen alcohol rehab because of teen drug treatment or alcohol treatment.  I know, I know, I sound morbid.  But they are exposed to a sick environment.   They have a father who is a dope.  A shameless piece of rotten meat.

And it is sad that I feel I cannot do anything for them because their mother is bound to the whole situation, with no economic power, very helpless, and yet very unwilling to leave.

When do we intervene?  Do we intervene even if the parties involved are not willing?

Someday, I am afraid the mother of these sweet little fellows will search for teen addiction info.  I am afraid that these kids will be added to teen drug statistics.  God forbid.

Scammed Again

Yes, folks.  I am scammed again.  Second time around.  In my quest to earn extra income online, I decided to join Paidsurveys.com.   The ads looked promising.  I will be earning lots of pesos.  Yes, one of the ads translated the earnings into pesos.  And so I clicked, joined with a membership fee, and voila, it was just a database of survey companies where mostly only US citizens are allowed.

I tried my luck joining the international survey companies. Until now, no surveys are available for me.  It's more than two weeks.  So, I wrote and told them I wanted to have my money back because their ads said it is money back guaranteed.  There was no answer until now.

It is a scam.  They collect money and all you get is a database of survey companies that pay no attention to you.  It is so frustrating that you get not one e-mail that tells you you are qualified for a survey. Not even one until now.

And so I am writing this as a form of warning.  There is truly nothing that gets you rich quick in the net.  Though I did not look at it that way but an added income, I realized after a few days that the money that Filipina got is big money used as a come-on.  Stupid me.

On Daughters Getting Pregnant

We went to Papsie's relatives yesterday and I had a chance listening to 'updates' from a few.  One of the mothers related her sad story about her daughter who got pregnant while she was in college.  The guy did not take the responsibility and was a sloth that did not look for a job to be able to support.  Up to this time, he is unemployed.

The poor mother did not allow her daughter to go to school anymore and I asked why.  I told her that it could be beneficial for everybody that she finishes school.  But she replied that what if the guy starts to see her daughter again and impregnate her.  That would be disaster for her.

It was so easy for me to say those things.  I began to contemplate afterward if I could be able to do what I suggested sending her back to school.  I could understand the anger and the disappointment because as you see, the family is not well-off.  I believed that they were expecting that the daughter could help them in the future, or bring good news for the family when she graduates and land a job.

I honestly thought it was the expectation that brought the great disappointment.  There is a big difference when parents are earning enough for the family than when parents are working their butts off to provide for the family.  In a culture such as the Philippines',  offsprings are expected to assist the family to get on with life's hurdles.  There is truly a big difference when parents expect that their children will repay them for their parenting efforts by shouldering the family's obligations.

I grew up in a family where my mother expected so much from her offspring that they will liberate her from poverty without doing anything, to change that course, and for her children.  This maybe the reason why I am open to the concept that children do not have obligations for their family, or to the parents specifically.  I truly believe that it is not necessary to oblige the children because they will have their chance of working for themselves and be an adult who will face the challenges in life in the future.  They will have their chances of helping, if they feel like it.  But parents should never necessitate the children's role of being 'providers'.

I believe that sending her daughter again to school will make a difference.  If only she would not waste her time, effort and energy harassing the father's baby, and focus on what to do next, then it would be better for everybody.  I do believe she has to talk her out into committing to do good and give her the consequences if she fails this time.

I say this being a mother who is almost a single mother making ends meet for the family.

SONA quips

President Noynoy Aquino's SONA elicited different reactions from different people, supporters and non-supporters, the rich and the pauper, the learned and the illiterate, etc., etc.

  • A Telenovela - some say it was simply a part of a telenovela, a mere storytelling.  It was not a simple story to me narrated for the pleasure of those who listened but disclosed for all Filipinos to hear what transpired partly during the Arroyo administration.  Only a part was disclosed  but it gave a shock to many Filipinos and was shrugged off by Gloria Arroyo's allies.

  • Short of Content and Relevance - some say that the SONA fell short.  A lot of sectors were expecting that their concerns will be mentioned but unfortunately they weren't.  I think this is understandable.  The president stuck to the plan of giving out a SONA that is short and straight to the point.  If all concerns will be covered,  a day is not enough considering that he laid out the line about corruption and anomalies.  If most of the sectors were already afflicted with graft and corruption, then 24 hours are not enough.

  • No Concrete Solution - some say that they were waiting for a more solid solution to the issues that were presented but the SONA fell short again with the expectation.  I should say that this is partly true.  There were plans but no specifics were given.  Though I have to give him the benefit of the doubt that this was intentional.

The speech is short.  But it really does not matter to me.  Gloria Arroyo had given long speeches, beautiful promises, concrete plans, etc. but the Philippines that she first got hold of become the Philippines that has the worst condition.  They can have a litany of their projects and achievements but the truth of the pudding is in the eating, and this, by the way, means that those could have been felt by the littlest of the citizenry.  Only those who were near the furnace felt the heat, and this, by the way again, means only a few enjoyed what could have been enjoyed by every Filipino.

Boring Days are Over

For daughter Kay.

She'll start to work come August.  This year, of course.  :-)  It's not a bummer after all the waiting and trying and getting bored.  The days of feeling pressure from people who seem to spend their time watching over when she's going to land a job are OVER.

Kay knew it. We knew it.  People seem to keep an eye on her.  Especially the league of unemployed housewives that gather around outside their houses whose business is to watch people and talk about them as if they know what was really happening.  And also the league of unemployed tambays who look like they don't care about what is happening around but who truly talk nasty about other people.  Actually, they talk nastier than those jobless housewives.

But we don't care.  She doesn't care. But we are aware.

Now, she can get a cheap insurance for herself!  I am just joking.  :-D  Papsie and I never imposed anything on our children.  We play as parents.  And sensible parents do not impose things on grown up children (like forcing them to pay for the daily expenses and bills).  Only the unemployed, and those who do not have economic power, and those who are cunning and lazy do that. Parents who did nothing good for the welfare of their children do not have the right to demand - do they know that?

Well, it's nice if the children wanted to help.  It feels good that they will extend a helping hand but we will not dictate.  We will be here always for our children to guide and support them in any endeavor they will set their minds to.

Not a Product Review but a Friend Review

One day I am going to have to write reviews but not about products like that of acneticin reviews.  I will have reviews about people, specifically about friends.  And like any product review, this will include what friendship to a particular person holds value.

The review will entail the good and the bad traits a particular friend have.  It will encompass the advantages and disadvantages of befriending these particular friends.  It will describe in detail the effects of the kind of friendship I have with these friends and suggests ways that could have done to improve the relationships.   It will also include the reasons why the friendships flourished, or why they should end.

Seriously,  I will do that one day.  When I have ample time in the future, I will be jotting down memories about friends.  Friends that I chose to cherish, and those I chose to forget.

My earring was snatched!

We had a date last night.  Daryl and I.  It's not actually a date because we had to go to EO to buy nose pads for his eyeglass.  But before reaching SM North, I had a shocking experience.

I decided not to bother Papsie to use the car to bring me to SM North because there was fire along North Avenue near DAR.  He would be stressed with the traffic so I decided to commute.  It was a mistake on my part to decide going via Balintawak route.  I had never gone there alone.

There were drizzles of rain as I went off the jeep to board a bus from EDSA.  When I stepped on the bus, I felt a slight tap on my head on the right side and a seemingly twist on my left ear.  Funny that I even thought a friend was at my back doing such a gesture.  But I couldn't turn my head at once because my foot is already on the first step and when my other foot was on the bus, I turned my head and saw a man running away as fast as he could.  I wished I had a small laser gun that looks like the barcode scanner below.  Ha ha.  He will not make it far I bet!

As I sat on the bus, I touched both my ear and discovered that the left earring was gone.  The snatcher is an expert.  His touch was very light.  I felt actually amazed at the expertize.  He felt short of estimation for my right ear though.  The light tap on the right side of my head is probably for the right ear.

It was not what I got afraid of.   Though the earring is valuable to me.  It was a 18 carat Saudi gold pair of earrings and an heirloom.  But I was more scared of the possibility that it was my bag that the snatcher will choose.

Still, I did not feel anger.  I felt pity.  But promised myself not to go that route alone anymore.

The Thought of Being Disabled

In the middle of the night, I was awakened by a jolting pain in the right side of my body near the groin. It made me afraid but was able to find composure by praying to God that the pain will go away. It was gone after about ten minutes and was back again like a short and crisp pain. It was not that painful but it made me uneasy. It did not even stay for long to cause panic. But it left me wide awake.

I thought of many things. As much as I wanted to avoid thinking about morbid things (because a friend says the mind is powerful), I was not able to. I do not have disability insurance, I thought. I do not even have a life insurance. I was about to sign those papers but for varied reasons, I forgot all about it. I told myself, you have to look for that paper again and sign and start paying.

Life is unpredictable, I realized. This is probably why some people adhere to even doing the evil things to acquire money, fame, and power. They must be thinking that it could save them from unexpected times of severe illness and disability, or even from death.

I comforted myself with God's loving words,
“And we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.” Apostle John’s statement in 1John 4:16

Then also thought of the differences of dangerous men from the rest,
“All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.” T.E. Lawrence

God always reminds me to be faithful and to put the values I learned from Him to use. Sometimes, we all forget that it is not success that truly defines a man.
“Try not to become a man of success but a man of value.” Albert Einstein

Jogging Once Again

More of the pictures yesterday can be found here.

We went jogging and walking again at the UP oval yesterday. As I am writing this, I am crossing my fingers that we could be able to do this again next Sunday and every Sunday.

And oh, boy, I felt stiff after a few minutes.  I thought I needed spring plungers to catapult myself to the next turn.  :-D  Really, this should be done regularly.  The absence of exercise had made my body seem heavy and not truly cooperating.  I felt that my joints have no lubricant anymore to help me run easily and comfortably.

Focus, Bing.

What Symbol Do You Stand For?

It's not simply the Symbol LS2208 that I wanted to talk about because this is merely a simple one for the inanimate. I wanted to talk about what distinctive mark or symbol do you want to be remembered of.  Do you want people to remember you as a traitor?  Do you want people to wince at the mere mention of your name? Or do you want to be a symbol of true hope? Or a blessing?

I discovered something and it broke my heart.  It concerns someone I know.  My intuition did not go wrong.  One way or the other, I thought before, there must be something about the unexpected gifts.  Somewhere between chats or connections, I felt uneasy with the demeanor.  This person did not truly care.  For whatever motive I was given the unexpected gifts, I am still giving thanks.

As I read the details in the pieces of information, I squirmed.  The respect I gave diminished.  It is not a small matter that a person betrays another, much more a lot of people.  Double-crossing or double-dealing is very dirty, a treachery that deserves not only a cold shoulder but punishment.

It would truly be easier for me when a person admits he's gay or lesbian.  At least, most of these people work their butts out to earn a living in much cleaner ways.

I remember God

Yesterday, I remember God.

As my world sinks to seeming depths, God reminds me that He is in control.  God is always there but I am not always there to give praises and thanks, and even allot time for him everyday.  I assumed He had forgotten me because He seemed to have allowed me to suffer amounts of sorrow.

And yesterday, God showed me how I fared with my faith.  He blessed me again with a forgiving heart and a restrained tongue.  Funny that as I strive to please the Lord, there are people I see whose actions tempt me to do otherwise.  The world is a vicious world.  But I have my God.

Series of Unfortunate Events by the Roadside

The rainy season is here again.  The highways, the roads, and even the roadsides will be wet again.  During this season, there will be a lot of unfortunate events that is to be expected.  It's not that I wanted them to happen.   They can happen anytime.  It would be good if there is a roadside assistance plan but that is not common in this almost forsaken country of ours.  Frankly, who knows that it exist?

Road assistance plans are common abroad.  They are offered by companies who do service for RV vehicles and family vehicles.  It is not common here in the Philippines but the idea popped out of my mind.  What if a government project that caters to the needs of motorists  that need assistance in remote and far flung areas be funded?  Later on, it could rouse the interests of businessmen and venture in something like this.

Some unfortunate events here in our country include being robbed after asking strangers for help in a remote place, far from the city, or far from where there are many people and establishments.   Some include waiting for hours before help arrives.  Some motorists can even face dangerous situation of being hurt or killed.  With a road assistance available with just a call, then it would be a relief.

It's just wishful thinking... The rain is driving me nuts.  I mean, my fear of the rain.

Urban Clothing Is Not Urbane Dressing

I remember an old friend who alarmingly told her experience on her way home.  While she is about to board a jeepney, a sexagenarian was ahead of her also about to board.  What affected her so much is the way the old woman dressed herself.  She was wearing a thin white capri pants and underneath was a glaring red thong.  My friend was so shocked.  She's ten years younger but could not dare put on something like that.

This is urban clothing - in fashion and sometimes can even be designer clothes.  But urban clothing is not urbane dressing at times.  Some people at times forget to dress in a manner that suits the age and the personality. In the case of the sexagenarian, I have to give her the benefit of the doubt because of senility.  The burden lies on the people that are with the old lady.

This brought to memory one teacher in high school who was also beginning to loose her mental capabilities that time.  One day, she went to class in a yellow see-through (only the upper part) dress and she was wearing a red bra! While the rowdy group of boys and girls made fun of her, I took pity but was not able to do something.  I was in a state of shock.

I hope that when I reach the stage of senility, there would still be people around who would warn me or guide me about things especially about dressing.  I could not imagine myself walking in a see-through dress or wearing thongs under a thin pair of pants.

Eternally an Alicia Keys Fan

It was Kay and Daryl who introduced me to Alicia Keys and her songs. This lady has not changed. She is getting prettier every time I see her on the telly. It makes me wonder what weight loss products that work she's using. Look at this pic.

Mesothelioma Will Not Give You a Choice

Because you will die soon.

I don't know but that is how I picture this kind of cancer.   Mesothelioma will not give you a choice.  How could one with malignant mesothelioma be able to do something when one's balance is devastated by the pain caused by the cancer?

How can one do something and choose to be of use when he is exhausted, could not eat, lacks motivation and has pain in the chest area?

This cancer, and maybe all types of painful cancer will render anyone useless.  It will not give you a choice of doing something valuable because you are afflicted with something that would be very unbearable physically and emotionally.

I hope to God that He will spare me this kind of affliction.

Only the Rich Can Afford a Broker

I know someone who had made it big as a broker.  He was an average guy during his younger days. He was not even popular. But he had already acquired properties and had become rich.  He had become successful probably buying and selling properties like that from Outer banks foreclosures being based in the US.

Modern Sofas Without the Cats

I love the modern sofas nowadays.  Even with the pricey tags on, I can't help but admire them and dream that one day I will have a set.  I would not go with the red ones but I will buy gray, lovely sofas!

But first, there is something that I must do.

Get rid of the cats!  How could I allow them to scratch the lovely sofas?  Besides the fact that they are pricey, I couldn't bear the thought that one day the sofas' surface are destroyed.

Lucky cats, they will be with us for long.

Exercise Using the Office Furnitures

Life for a working mom is truly a challenge.  There is almost no time for everything.  But after your meditation in the morning when you are already in the office, you can try some exercises using the office furniture.  It can be your chair.  It can be the office table.

Audemars Piguet Watches

Ignorant me.  I have not heard of Audemars Piguet watches.  And they say these are essential watches of Beverly Hills.  These watches must be very expensive but not essential as in needed.   They cannot be indispensable because life can go on without these costly accessories, or life can go on with only a cheap watch to use.

I find it funny really that the rich spend that much money on accessories like watches, bags, trinkets, etc.  But it's their money and of course, what business do I have of people buying these overpriced valuable possessions?

Meditation equals Relaxation

Someone said, "I noticed that every time I relax, meditate, or pray, I feel balanced and my life seems steady.  Then after days, or months,  meditation and prayer are forgotten.  Then gradually, life becomes stressful again.  I will go back to meditation and prayer once more.  My life eventually becomes beautiful again."

Most of us experience these episodes, particularly the working people - businessmen, lawyers, writers and teachers.  The precept behind is find time to relax even if it seems impossible.  Relaxation is gratifying and gives us peace and the benefit of attracting beautiful people in our lives.

Spaghetti Sauce and Copper Core Cookware

Every time it rains, thinking of good food cannot be helped.  Suddenly, I thought of spaghetti sauce.  I'm quite good at preparing this sauce.  The children loved it not because I'm their mother.  It's because I cook delicious spaghetti sauce.  :-D

Even without an all clad copper core sauce pan, my spaghetti will be appetizing.   It's not the cookware which is the secret, of course.  It is how one prepares a particular food.

I will not be listing a recipe here but I will mention that one of the reasons why food is delicious is the natural ingredients you put in it.  There are already preserved tomatoes in can but I still choose to buy fresh tomatoes, and onions, and garlic, and mince them.  The natural aroma from them is incomparable to the instantly available ones in cans as they are sauteed.

How Efren Sells His Life Insurance Plans

If you are wondering who Efren is, he is the guy I was talking about in this post.

He has two agents in his network in the company.  The more sales they bring, the more earnings Efren gets.  It truly is networking.  Actually, it's my first time to hear that even insurance agencies are into networking.

The Nice Things about Having Friends

I am not the self-important friend that others seem to be.  I am a people-pleaser most of the time.  That is different from a crowd-pleaser, I think.  Maybe that is why I have friends, not plenty, but I have friends.

One of the nice things about having a friend or friends is that you have one or two you can vent your anger or exasperation towards a hateful person, for example.  You have one or two you can run to when you urgently need money because your pocket doesn't have a penny.  One of them will even crack open their piggy bank and lend you the money.  Don't you think I have enough reason to think it is nice to have friends?  :-D

Brought Back Memories

I saw this picture of my high school classmates in my FB friend's account. It brought back memories.  Especially with Didi (the one in black and with still an angelic face that does not require even a whit of Acneticin) and with Gemma (the one in a flowery blouse).

Dreaming of Cars

My recent experience with our car must be in my subconscious that was why I dreamed of these powerful cars.

I first dreamed of a porsche boxster, one of those roadsters that only famous and very rich men own. Funny, but in reality, I do not like two-door convertibles. Even if it is a super sleek, fashionable car, I will always go for the spacious ones.  This porsche boxster in my dream looks like this one.  Beautiful, isn't it?

Bombarded Part 2

Talk about being in the middle of it all.  And so, as the saying goes again, when it rains, it pours.  And just as I am in the middle of trying to figure out how to deal with the difficulties of life, the car bogged down.  The carburetor gave in.  What would you expect from an old car?  Well, yes, it is not yet a vintage car, but it is more than a decade now that it had been in service.  It doesn't even have a cheap auto insurance.

A day after, the car overheated.  Papsie was able to reach home late between stops.  I was petrified when he said it must be the water pump.  It wasn't.  It was only a punctured hose.  Thank God, I said to myself.

Don't tell me to buy a new car.  That is not a good idea at this time.  :-(

Anything But Not a Pair of Tuxedo Shoes

It's Father's Day.

At Amazon.com, there are shoes that would attract Papsie's attention:

But not a pair of tuxedo shoes. He will be disappointed. That would not definitely not delight him. What use would a pair of tuxedo shoes have for him?

The point is it is important to specifically know what the 'dads' of this world truly want for a Father's day.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL PAPA, DAD, DADDY, TATAY, ITAY OF THIS WORLD!!!

Hair Loss Cure for the President?

Kris Aquino announced last year that she tried to convince President-elect Noynoy Aquino for a hair loss cure, which is the mesoscalp treatment (as suggested by the Belo Medical Clinic).  This was declined by Mr. Aquino.

That was the first time I admired Mr. Aquino's determination.  He cannot be dictated even by his sister.  This is witnessed in many instances during the campaign and until present, he cannot be dictated.  I saw lately how he remarked on the unsolicited advice of Fidel Ramos.  That was straightforward and honest contrary to what the media says it's snobbish.

Are Boots for Pinoys?

How pretty it is to look at girls and women in mini dresses and boots.  But are boots for pinoys?

They are not for pinoys (or pinays).  With the humid and dry season we mostly experience, it is not fitting to wear boots.  Though I had seen some fashionistas in some places here in the country wearing boots and they carry them very well, I find it awkward to see them wearing this pair of foot wear under the glaring heat of the sun, and in the Philippines!

Kim Kardashian wants you to keep up

With this...

I just hate reality television series most of the time.  I could not find the relevance of it all to the many.  For me, a show has to have a purpose and most of the time I could not find it all.  That is why I am not a fan of PBB and other reality television series here in the Philippines.  I could not connect.  Well, maybe it is just not my thing.

Would You Do it for Love?

I stumbled upon The Most Beautiful Death in StumbleUpon.  It is a letter from Letters of Note.  It is a letter by Laura, the wife of Aldous Huxley, a novelist, who was diagnosed with cancer in 1960.  Laura was asked by Aldous to administer him with LSD* while he was passing away.

I felt for Laura during the times she had witnessed her husband's ordeal.  Who would not be bothered seeing your husband agitated with pain?

Do you like basements?

Who would not want a basement which is as beautiful as this?

Photo courtesy of Daniel's Custom Building and Renovations.

But beautiful as it is, I don't like the idea of having basements in a house.  I don't know, it gives me the creeps.  Yes, even if it is as perfect as it is like the picture above.  Aside from the need of a basement dehumidifier, the fear of the possibility of sewage creeping in, or a flash flood rushing into the beautiful room, lingers.  That is morbid thinking, I know, but the idea kills the vision.

We Have a New President

Today, Benigno Aquino, Jr.  was proclaimed the Philippines' President-elect together with Jejomar Binay as the Vice-President-elect.  As Senator Aquilino Pimentel, Jr. said in his speech, "Hail to the Chief!"  The speech is comic but it was the best speech of all.

So, what is new?

What is new with today's proclamation is the apparent hope that the supporters have for both Aquino and Binay.  The gallery of the Batasang Pambansa was witness to the paramount joy of celebration by everyone who's there.  Everyone seems hopeful.

Transformation Effects

Of course, they were shocked seeing me with this new look.  Who would not be when I always sport a rebonded hair?
