A Pair of Nurses Shoes

I love to wear high heeled shoes, mostly the wedges type.  The other day, though, I almost got my left foot hurt.  I nearly twisted my ankle. Good thing I was able to somehow  maneuver the slip.

Sexy, no?

That is why I am considering to buy a pair of nurses shoes and look for a pair that would match my uniform.  There are leather slip ins available online that I see with a heel about an inch only.  I think it is best to have them as my job requires me to go to and fro from my office to the plant, and to other sections, and also up and down the stairs.  High-heeled shoes could injure me and I better be finding pairs that wouldn't.  :D

The Strength A Parent Needs in Times of Disappointment

Parents need to summon the strength they hoarded in times of disappointment.  When an adult child fails to meet expectations of responsibility, discernment and rationale,  it can truly be frustrating.   What does a parent got to do?

Onlookers, and even hypocrites, or the self-righteous will readily point a figure at the parents and even without them asking for their opinion, it would be so easy to tell that the parents have to berate the child, or to even punish.   Things are not what they usually seem, situations are not always analogous to some others' experiences.

Tell the parents to talk to the adult child.  Okay.  This is workable to some but it does not always work.   Talking, when the parents and the child had had a lot of serious talks and still nothing changed, is at times futile.

Push the silence button.   Okay.  At times, parents and adult children have to distance themselves from each other, and let them think what had happened, why it happened, what to do with the current situation, and if there is a chance, talk it over again.

The parents need to love themselves, too, by not imbibing too much stress.  They have to let their hearts heal.  They have to give more attention now to themselves.  Enough had been said.  Enough had been done.  It is time to nurture themselves, too.

Looking for Trophies

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="220"]English: Ethel with her trophies: August 1929 English: Ethel with her trophies: August 1929 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)[/caption]

I remember when I was young, there were clubs being organized, contests being held, or recognitions being listed.  Medals and trophies are among those being given.   The organizers are tasked to find the best trophies or medals for these events.  I also remember that I was also assigned to look for a medal in one of these school events.

Today it is not considered a problem anymore as there are already a lot of online stores that has a variety of trophies and medals.   Still, some others go to downtown stores that offer cheaper ones.

This is just one of those you can find in my memory box. If you ask me what love teams there were during my high school days, I cannot answer.  :D

Sensible MyLot Discussions

I am a member of MyLot, and yes I earn money from participating in and starting discussions.  I do not earn much as time would not allow me.  I discovered that participating in forums are rewarding.  It hones your ability to write and your ability to socialize as well.

Not all discussions posted in this forum are worth the time.  Some are even wont to start multiple discussions in a day and when you go check them, most of it are not even worth your time reading. There are a few though that you can learn from, discussions that will not be left responded to because of the interesting topic and the uniqueness of the writing style. I know, everybody has his own writing style but who would not be attracted to one that is eloquently, or carefully, or expertly, written? :D

A discussion in a forum actually does not need to be very long as it could really bore your readers, nor be very short as it would appear to be haphazardly done.  Some starters though unwittingly copy an idea.  The content may not be the same but the whole idea is the same and you will be thinking if the starter had even done his or her research before clicking the button. (That pretentious senator is not alone, I guess.) :D

Musician's friend

It was Glen's birthday yesterday.  If I have lots of money, I would have given him pro tools 10 musicians friend.  It is an audio production software for recording, composing, editing, and mixing music and sound for picture. He and his friends could use it someday when they decide to composed their own music.

That's wishful thinking, I know.  It's not breaking the law dreaming about something that is almost impossible to have but hey, I was able to buy a second hand car!  Who would have thought I can? LOL :D

There is an end to everything

When something's ending, you go through so many phases, and it can be frustrating. But once you're out on the other side, it's like you can really see all the crazy phases you went through.  - Norah Jones

I have always believed that there is always an end to everything that is happening.  Even laughter has to end, and with it happiness.  It's a vicious cycle that no one is capable of stopping but by pretending it has not yet ended.

So if you think you are the luckiest creature on earth to be able to hide what you do in secret and nobody knows what you do, believe that it will end one day, and it will be discovered.  The sad thing about it is when the ending has to happen with scandal and intrigue.  You might not want anymore to hear what others have to say.

M* knows how to play the guitar!

I was surprised to hear that M* knows how to play the guitar. No, she didn't buy her instrument from the telecaster guitar center but it was a gift from her dad when she was in high school.  Also, it was not an electric guitar that she plays with.  It was just a simple guitar but it amazes me still learning that she could actually play and create tunes from the guitar.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="240"]Guitar Guitar (Photo credit: mrwalker)[/caption]

The conversation started from an exchange of thoughts when we get bored from the whole scenario of working in a company that gives one more headaches than glory.  That is where she mentioned that when she gets home from a disappointing day at work, she would play the guitar. "Don't tell me it's an electric guitar you're playing?" I asked and she told me it isn't.  I have no doubt that she will learn to play an electric guitar, too, if given the time, as she already has the basics.

This woman never ceases to amaze me.  She drives a car, a motorbike, knows some martial arts, knows how to swim and now plays a guitar!

I Missed Having a Dog

We have a new baby in the house.   I introduce to you - Dogdog.

[caption id="attachment_4409" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Dogdog is a doxie-pin[/caption]

I didn't christen the poor pup.  My daughter and her boyfriend wanted the name desperately for this little bundle of joy.  Papsie's always laughing out loud at the sound of the name, and making fun of it, too.  It didn't change Kay's decision.

We are getting used to it already.  The little pup gives us consolation to our tiring work days.  He eagerly runs forward to greet you as if he wanted to shout "I missed you!"  He knows how to use the water feeder in his training cage already, and sleeps in his cage without a yelp all through the night.

The downside is we are like taking care of a newborn baby, and parents know what I mean saying it's not easy. :(

I Didn't Wear Maternity Leggings

True, I didn't wear maternity leggings when I was pregnant with Kay and Daryl.  Being a new mom, I remember I was very afraid to wear leggings or even pants that have stretchable front panels.  I really thought of it as dangerous to the growing baby inside.  I was afraid these pants could hinder the growth of the baby.

My mother-in-law sewed my maternity dresses those times.  When I go to the malls, I simply chose dresses and completely ignored all maternity leggings and pants.  There were moms that wear them during those times.  They looked okay but my fear overcame the desire to try.

My babies were big and healthy when they were delivered.  I always thought that not wearing the leggings might have contributed to their  healthy condition while inside the tummy.   I may sound silly but this is what I did and how I thought of the whole thing when I was pregnant.

Define Pedophilia

English: Conceptual diagram showing relationsh...

In one of these cable channel's series, Criminal Investigation, pedophilia cases in an Asian country were exposed and discussed. The perpetrators were foreigners from western countries and the victims were as young as below nine years old.

Urban Dictionary defines pedophilia simply as:
The act of touching, molesting, or sexually harassing the younger generation.

In the Encyclopedia of Mental Disorders, there are interesting information about what pedophilia is and some of these are:

  • Pedophilia is a paraphilia that involves an abnormal interest in children.

  • The focus is sexual activity with a child (children under the age of 18).

  • Some professionals confine the definition to sexual activity with prepubescent children (with ages 13 or younger).

  • The sexual behaviors involved in pedophilia cover a range of activities and may or may not involve the use of force.

  • There is no typical pedophile and they maybe young or old, male or female.

In this day and age, where nothing shocks the majority anymore, these cases are treated with nonchalance mostly in some remote rural places in the Philippines. Proliferation of these criminal acts, where even the parents are the flesh-peddlers in the city and in the barrios, are attributed mostly to poverty.

THE NEED TO EDUCATE

There is indeed a need to educate children and parents as well, especially in areas where provision of education is scant. Needless to say, the needs are more than the basic need of educating people. It sounds cliche but in truth it is a forgotten promise by the servants of the people that the budget or resources awarded must be converted to the provision of not only education, but jobs and health services, among many things.

The rich and educated, however, will find a way to earn the knowledge they need, and desire, what with the abundance they luxuriate in. Even knowing what pedophilia means will be utterly easy to learn, or even twist. Nevertheless, they deserve to be educated what it truly is.

EVERYBODY'S ROLE

Educators are laden with tasks of educating the youth because that is what they are entrusted with. Doctors and all medical practitioners, including health caregivers are entrusted with maintaining health and well-being, on the other hand. Parents and guardians are responsible of a mixture of these things, too - educating, rearing, taking care of the children's well-being, and a lot more.

Perversion such as pedophilia warps the beauty of these roles. This illness borne of experiences like being sexually abused during childhood, emotional decline, or psychological incapacity leaves no room for reason especially that the victims are children. Pedophiles have to be punished indeed.

THE DANGER OF A FALSE ACCUSATION

An ugly facet could come up though from the basic learning about pedophiles. What makes this whole thing complicated and cruel is when a professional or a parent or guardian is hurled false or counter-factual charges or becomes an innocent victim of an accusation as pedophile. It is equally painful as most victims always feel pain, unfair treatment, and devastating effects. A counterattack can be done as most victims should do but as always the damage is done and is irreversible.

With the rising concern about pedophiles, it cannot be helped to be suspicious at times with a mere touch, or extra kindness, or an irregular trait but it is not fair, too, for professionals, parents, or guardians to be subjected carelessly to baseless allegations.
