What is Wrong with YM?

I have been using Yahoo Messenger for some time now to send instant messages and to chat with friends. Before, it was so easy for me to join a room. The service is a few buttons away. Now I can not join a room and I receive notice that somewhat read like ‘you were signed out because you signed in on a different computer’. Then I will be disconnected. Honestly, I do not know what that means. My attempts to join rooms lately are always unsuccessful. Not much of a bother to me though, but I am wondering what could be the problem. Is it with the new YM with voice chat features? Probably not, because I have been experiencing this months before I downloaded the new version.

It is my habit also to reread exchange of messages with my chat friends and I find it wonderful that YM has this message archive. However, I chatted with a friend last Sunday and thought of rereading the exchange of messages. The event was not recorded and that particular date was not recorded. What a waste, I thought. Then I checked if I had disabled the function. I did not. So frustrating. That was one funny and warm chat, and I regret that it got lost.

Because of this, I opted to change my password. Now, I am experiencing more frequent disconnections. What is wrong with YM ?!?

Good thing that I still have blogging (which I would prefer over chatting). That makes me a blog addict, isn’t it? :-)

  2. I hope you didn't fall victim to a hacker. Mahrgil (another blogger), has a post about YM hacking sa kanyang blog. Check out this link from his post....

  3. If that happened to me, I might have reformatted my hard disk already. Haha. The suggestion of Mayo sounds logical. Go, try it.

  4. i hope you didnt fall victim to YM hacking. i heard of a blogger (mahrgil) who was victimized. same thing happened to him, he was logged out because apparently, he "logged on" on a different computer. tapos the hacker was able to change his pw pa.

  6. madalas din mangyari sa akin yan Bing. I thought I was being hacked also pero parang hindi naman since sometimes me lalabas pa na error encountered (di ko na matandaan kung ano) that will terminate the program and asking if i want to send or not...
ngek ano naman kaya ang i-hack sa akin ano? pero nakakainis lang dahil palagi akong nadidisconnect...

  7. I used to be like that too. what i did was unistall yahoo in my computer, ran an updated virus checker, then left it for a day. I re-installed YM the next day and the bloody thing just ran smoothly. Oh yeah, warning: I lost my archives doing that.

you're not blog addict. You're just blogging -inclined. :)

  9. In YM, there are people who they call as booters. They are people who for the sake of fun or whatever, boots people out during a chat session.

Some of my friends use a tunnelling software to avoid the booters.

The problem with the latest YM 8 is that it works best for the licensed XP SP2 else you will have this problem.

  12. hello ninang! :D i would suggest na mag change ka ng password using a different computer, yung malinis, 'you were signed out because you signed in on a different computer' means someone or some script is trying to log in using your account. Your computer might be infected. Try checking for virus/worms or some malicious scripts on your pc possible kasi na may key logger yung pc.
