Stories to Hear

People don't want their lives fixed. Nobody wants their problems solved. Their dramas. Their distractions. Their stories resolved. Their messed cleaned up. Because what would they have left? Just the big scary unknown.  - Chuck Palahniuk

It can drain you to hear stories.  Stories of yesterday and of today.  It can also inspire at times.  Stories of success and fulfillment.  What makes this world a very interesting place to live in are the living souls that comprise it.  We cannot skip out from stories that make us cry, and those that have twists and complications, and summaries of shameful and unfortunate bits.  It's actually these, ingredients of intrigues, that make us pause and listen.  They make stories of good news and success stale and uninviting.

We educate ourselves with the lessons derived from these stories, or might even identify ourselves with the characters in a particular story.  We pride ourselves with being able to hold on and rise up but at the same time feel inadequate for not being able to taste the sweetness of sin, or guilt.  We take turns imagining what it would be like to be there, in the middle, or how we would survive the challenges.  Are we going to commit suicide, too, or indulge ourselves in shameful wantonness?

Each of us has a story (stories) to tell.  We were driven with different motivations, guided by different doctrines, and influenced by diverse personalities or heroes or dummies.  I was thankful that during times of adversities shot by the One up there (because He knows I probably can do it), I was equipped with sanity and inspiration (or motivation - whatever it's called) to go on and trod.

My stories are no different and might even be unpopular or common.  I have to say it got colorful with the addition in my life of a person who gave me jewels later to get more inspired, or motivated, and to hold on and go on.  There is nothing but love, I guess, (although it cannot feed you alone, I have to agree) that made us click.  The rest is history, as a friend said.  :D
