Professing Christians

Many declare openly their faith in God. One can truly admire the zealots that roam in every country sharing with their acts of faith and words of wisdom. There is nothing wrong, I think, with it. Because we are all given the privilege to worship God, in what we think, say or do.

But sometimes, the zealots become stumbling blocks. They claim that God saved them from the pits of hell and so one must pray for forgiveness and accept the good news of salvation. No problem with that. But faith without deeds is dead (James 2:26). How about person ‘A’ who religiously attends bible studies every Friday of each week but cannot control her tongue and spreads words that does not contribute to a person’s well-being? Or person ‘B’ who does not know how to keep her promises and is always missing when somebody needs her help, and will be heard often that “No problem, you just need to pray”? Or person ‘C’ who is affluent and with many connections but is so insensitive of a relative’s cry for assistance in job seeking? Or person ‘D’ who is very diligent sending Christian messages but does not really care how his friend is faring>

Yea, faith is not about them. But they are bearers of good news, suppose to be. They have to act their faith. They have to be sincere. They have to be what they claim to be – SAVED FROM DAMNATION.

I have nothing against them. I am just sick of the superficiality

  2. And then there's a complete stranger who approaches you and boldly asks, "if you die now, where do you think you'd go: heaven or hell?" I just hate it.

  3. Some people join these Christian groups because they think it's cool, and nothing else.

  4. Bing, talaga yatang ganyan no? Your post reminded me of somebody - may she rest in peace - who would go up and down the streets while she was openly praying the rosary. Then, she'd stop and exchange chismis with the neighbors. I was both amused and irritated.

  5. Totally agree with your observation but it’s truly complicated Bing. We do expect consistency in the attitudes of people sharing the same faith but the reality is it can never happen because of the uniqueness of our individual frailties.

  6. Quite dissapointing.....
    Disguises are everywhere nowadays...
Like the Pharisees and Saducees in the old days.
"What you are is so loud, I cannot hear what you say" is my favorite defense/offense(reaction) whenever I met a man like those you mentioned, or someone insisting a membership in their religion for salvation rather than relationship thru Christ.
Perhaps they just need to be lovingly reminded about the fruit of Christianity in their lives that need to be practiced rather than preached, because a christian's life is the best preaching I wanna see and hear.

I guess..,one must show them how....

    Nice observation you've got here...

    Keep on....

  8. ah, yes... the approach. i am easily turned off by those kind. they have to really think of a way to explain salvation, heaven and hell.

i do believe that we really have to think about heaven and hell, Nico. just can't stand those people who acts differently from what theyprofess.

  10. marami talagang tao na katulad nila - superficial - because they really do not know true wisdom. but sometimes, we also have to be aware that we, just like them, are being watched by the One above. minsan di rin natin napapansin kung tayo ay stumbling block na rin.

    salamat sa pagdalaw, bugsy.

  11. i can agree with the diversity thing, bw,, but the thing is we have to practice the faith with caution. or else, we lead people blindly...

  12. ganda nun, flexj, ha... "What you are is so loud, I cannot hear what you say" . naku, admittedly, hirap ako to 'lovingly remind' someone with that superficial acts. not that i am perfect, pero nakakainis din kasi minsan.

  14. True..sad to say pero maraming tao ang ganito, dapat sana ay sila ang mag-aakay sa mga tao upang mapalapit sa diyos eh sila pa ang nagiging dahilan upang humina nag kanilang mga pananampalaya.
God knows everything that we do and when the time comes that we will be face to face with him, he will be the one to ask us kung ano ano ang mga ginawa nating mabubuti sa buhay natin.

Have a great day ahead =)

  15. Hi, Samfans' club? Ok, a.

true, Kadyotalagang mananagot tayo sa bawat kapalpakan especially with the things that we do to dishonor him. sana kasi, maging cautious ang bawat isa na may inaalagaang faith.

  18. Let me put it straight, they are HYPOCRITES of the highest degree.

Some are even making money from this sort of thing.

Di ba ang dami nyan sa atin. Sumasakay pa sa mga bus, lrt/mrt then humihingi ng "offering".

What I don't understand is that there are still lots of people who believe in them.

  19. isa pa yan, rolly, yung mga umaakyat sa bus at nag pi preach tapos mag di distribute ng envelopes. so pathetic! i respect preachers pero not those types.
