Apathy is a Choice

Happiness is not the only choice. Apathy, too. And we are all guilty of not being concerned or moved with passion about the things that is happening in our family, in our community, and in our country. We become indifferent. We become impassive. We leave things on their own, allowing them to take their own course.

Perhaps it is because of despair. Perhaps we have given up hope. But it is this apathy of despair that we can use to change. As ABS-CBN's movement stated, "Ako ang simula." It will always start within ourselves. The change that we wanted must start in us. We have to inspire ourselves to want to feel, to be interested to the things that are of general importance to many, like discipline, perseverance, allegiance, dedication, etc, etc., and to be concerned of what will happen next, of the results or outcome of our actions, of the effect of these actions.

It is never too late to release us from making us a nation of wimps. I fervently hope that in the coming elections, we say no to baits, to graft and corruption, to unlawfulness, to impostors, to dirty politicians!

  1. I second the motion Bing. I hope our time as a nation to change direction, towards the path to progress and uprightness starts with next year's elections.

  3. ABS-CBN's move is inspired, but I reckon the advertisers are also trying to have a hearty laugh at the bank with that.
