Godlike Persona

The seminar/course was over. It was enjoyable and a valuable tool to clarify what we currently have for the management system and for the procedures. There is a phrase that got stuck in my head and it is the phrase "Godlike persona". The lecturer used it to describe how some would perceive the auditors under me when performing the audit procedure.

Auditors are not only ones who can have that kind of persona. Anyone can have that persona. Once the feel gets into a system, one may not even be aware that he or she is assuming an aura that of a god's. Untouchable. All-knowing. High-brow. Holier-than-thou. Better than anybody. Or the best among the best.

In a workplace, for example, a new employee comes in and labor to prove his worth. He makes it and becomes the head of the veterans. Not a welcomed idea. The golden-agers shows their godlike persona by being indifferent, by trying anything to distract or destruct, by not cooperating.

Sounds frustrating. Of course. The newcomer may or may not be affected but proving his worth is a harder task than dealing with the veterans. That is how he should think about the whole scenario. The gods must be crazy not to notice that the newcomer is an asset not someone who will destroy them.
