Any lone cause designed to shed light on some perturbing issues always has to face the consequences of mockery, of incrimination, or of silent retaliation, aside from laud and advocacy.
Lesser friends, or acquaintances, disregard, or contempt, and even attempts to ruin, or annihilate - this is the price one has to pay for being vigilant. But does one vigilant person need to be bothered by all these? The answer is plain N - O. Once an individual decided to go on with a cause, he or she should have taken more reflection on the ill results of his or her cause before initiating a move.
A lot of people, and this is evident in this country, who had acquired power, authority, or fame cling to their lucrative positions with not only their two hands but also with their feet. And if you are an imminent opponent or rival, you should be gagged in any way they think is possible. In fact, silent retaliation is rampant in any sector of the society.
Silent retaliation only goes to show the cowardice of an opponent, or the guilt. Power, authority and fame truly blind reason. If the Filipinos, especially those in positions, should learn to LISTEN, REFLECT, ACCEPT and CHANGE, this country will go a long, long way. Anybody in this country does not have any right to find fault with the governance if we are that unruly and undisciplined.
It is really a sad thought if those who could lead have innate traits of selfishness and greed, and of pride and arrogance. They will banish you from the face of this earth if you try to assert your views, even with silent retaliation.
I guess if we truly believe in something...we just have to be fully cognizant of the consequences of our own beliefs. Whether we be right or wrong.
ReplyDeleteSomeone once said (and I forgot who) that "I'd rather lose a cause that would someday win, than win a cause that would someday lose." (or something to that effect.)
Silent retaliation...I would suppose, is a small price to pay for knowing that you are being true to yourself, and being true to your beliefs.
P.S. Thanks for the link, have linked back as well. :-)
Is this related to "that post" that we have so admired?
ReplyDeleteLooking at it, the Philippines has the right stuff to go a long way. two words: the youth. being a UP student, everyday i sit side by side with the would-be leaders of this nation (me excluded, i guess).
ReplyDeletethey're full of passion, full of spunk, full of dreams. when the professor orates about his/her visions for this country, they nod enthusiastically.
but when you ponder upon it, why is it that for decades and decades the country is still in this quagmire? do the UP students who nod with fervor in their classes nod to sleep upon leaving the University, seated upon high positions (whether gov't or commercial)? this was a question asked by a prof of mine, and your post made me remember it.
it's sad, but SOME of the best of the youth turn into these "silent retaliators" you've described. i guess cloaked beneath the dancing flames of their passions is, well, a Dark Side (me included? i hope not).
i'm really sorry for the lengthy comment. your post just made me reflect, ma'am. :D
everybody has a streak of evil in him. inviting it freely could draw what is innate in us all - the sinful nature. the youth, as always, is the only hope, but who should lead them so that they will not be silent retaliators in the future blinded by power? i hope there is still hope for this country and still enough rightful leaders that could mold the young into individuals who will stand up for a cause, and not those who go with the flow. no worries with lenghty comments, i enjoy reflecting on them as much as you like to reflect on my views, too. God bless!
ReplyDeletein short, everyone should listen, reflect, accept and change to survive and grow...
ReplyDelete@ka webspy - yes, everyone should bear that in mind. God Bless!
ReplyDelete@j angelo - that is nice. thank you for coming back. God Bless!
I have said it once and will say it again here because it still holds true:
ReplyDeleteAnywhere, even in the blogging community, we must practice peace. We must remain vigilant and ready, willing to be able to take the action to protect our friends and those in our neighborhoods victimized by bullies. Enemies of peace must never be appeased through our apathy or encouraged by our indecisiveness.
@teachersol - i totally agree with you. we must all be vigilant in a peaceful way. cheers to you!
