Hooked

So grateful that there are few people who still visit my blog though I do not update often and give the latest reflections in life (as if somebody cares ha ha). I appreciate it very much. Here’s wishing there are free virtual hugs and kisses for them. Or that they will have the best of the Christmas season.

Must be the season. Oh, yes it is. Wrapping Christmas gifts eats time. Organizing gatherings take time, too. Attending domestic concerns really consumes the bigger part of my time now that the ‘day’ is fast approaching. Going shopping chomps time that goes by unnoticed.

Plus there are two books I got hooked to – Firecracker and Sybil. The prior one I finished already. The latter being the one that I flick through voraciously these past few days. I could never stop. It is a lovely psychoanalysis true story. I was spellbound.

Firecracker is a fiction story about a man who sees the dead. Eerie but funny and sad at the same time. I wonder how I will react seeing someone in ‘black and white’ (how the dead is described in the book). It was written by Sean Stewart.

Sybil is the true story of a woman with a multi personality (16 personalities; women and men). It is mind-boggling but very informative, too. Flora Rheta Screiber is an excellent writer.

  1. Una ako!!!!! yippee!! Naku Ms Bing, we're on the same boat. Madalang pa sa patak ng snow ang post ko. Kasi naman, wala talagang time. Ang dami-daming nangyayari kaso by the time na gusto ko na umupo at magsulat ay naglalahong parang bula ang aking mga saloobin. hayyyyyyy...

    anyway, Merry Christmas!!!

  2. I have not been keeping up with my reading. The last book I read was The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

It's an interesting thriller. It has rave reviews although my sister in-law (a devout catholic), to my amusement, cursed at the author accusing him of blasphemy. :))

hi, Noel! i have read it, too. i admire the writer. i see most of its contents as purely fiction.

'twas mentioned at the back portion of the book, snglguy. i wonder if there is still a copy? i love the book really. a very interesting true account.

  8. Hi Bing!

I knew you were busy for the holiday preparations and all, and gave you that space :) Hmmm .... and you found time to do some reading? Hehehhe.

I picked up this book the other day, 365 Daily Instructions for Hysterical Living. I needed something wacky and light. I'll pick up something for serious reading after the holidays.

  9. Hi Bing. I envy you for the time you've had to read books. I've read only one in the past month: Elaine St. James' Living the Simple Life and now I'm busy trying to follow her tips. :)
That's why I can't blog and surf as much as I want to. Ang dami palang gagawin before I can "simplify" my life and enjoy my retirement.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  10. the late 70's??? and that was a very long time ago indeed, snglguy

yea, did find time reading, replaced bloghopping actually. cant resist the book, senor enrique.

hi, bugsy! it's been a long time i havent read a book. they are gifts to myself this Christmas. plus some healthy food supplements.

hey, nice post you had there, bugs. but i cant post a comment. nice tips for a new year's resolution - SIMPLIFY LIFE. that way, you don't list anymore, just memorize the phrase and everything you do should adhere to it. will i be successful, i hope so.

  11. Hi again. TypePad did some technical updating and that's why you couldn't post a comment, Bing.
Anyway, I agree with you that "simplify life" is a good new year's resolution and you're right too: all we have to do is to remember those two words, forget about any lists. Let's hope we're successful!

  16. Oh galing! You read Stewart's Firecracker? I have the copy also though it's under a different title, Perfect Circle. I liked the story and like also Stewart's prose. You could say he's one of my favorite authors.

Sayang nga lang, he's madalang magsulat as he involved nowadays with writing for internet games.

  17. 16 personalities... makes you wonder if "LEGION" (the man possessed in the Bible) actually had MPD. Hi Bing!

  18. hi, baby pink! really worth reading... was so amazed by the courage against the events in Sybil's life.

hello, mr banzai! talaga favorite mo? magaling si Sean Stewart. i love the words of wisdom in the seemingly casual narration.

TK, ha ha had me laughing there.. maybe??? ha ha

  19. Hi Bing. This early I am greeting you na Merry Xmas and A Happy New Year.

I think I have heard already about the woman with the multi-personality. Her story is so fascinating that I wonder really if the tale is true to life. Very fascinating read I guess.
