"Kay passed the talent determination test," went Papsie's text message yesterday. "No. 1 nga siya kasi alphabetically arranged (She's no. 1 because the list was alphabetically arranged)." I laughed to myself while reading this, mixed with glee because of the news that Kay made it again. Six of the applicants did not pass. Good thing they have the option to enrol in another course.
I am glad that she got what she wanted. I believe that a person will give his/her best if he/she likes what she is doing. I believe that Kay will do her best to reach her goal because she had obtained her long time desire of studying at UP.
Number one for me are my children's wishes to come true. I could have insisted in telling her to take up Nursing which will her give her the chance of working abroad and amassing money :-). But I know Kay will say no because she does not like Nursing. Her passion is the arts.
Number one for me are my kids. They are what matters to me most. In whatever I do, their welfare is my main reason to press on with life's hurdles. Between my happiness and theirs, it will be theirs that will take the lead. Never mind me.
Bing, nursing isn't the only career that can earn your Kay big bucks and a chance to work abroad. Animation artists are in very big demand these days especially abroad and remember, not all people CAN take up fine arts just like that. It takes skill and talent...
ReplyDeleteTell her to consider seriously a career in animation and get an apprenticeship at Philcartoons, if they accept apprentices. A lot of their talents are now in the US working for big animation studios. :-)
hi, single! that is a nice info. i'll tell her that. actually, i know that there are big opportunities for artists, too. it depends on how they make use of it. it's just that very popular lang talaga ang Nursing course when it come to earning much (as in dollars) but nevertheless, I believe it depends on a person pa rin. pag tamad at batugan ang isang tao, kahit maraming opportunities di masasalo kasi natutulog ha ha
ReplyDeletebingskee> Actually, animation artists can earn as much as a nurse if they work in a well known studio such as Disney, and Warner Bros. Did you know that there are quite a number of Pinoys working there?
ReplyDeleteWe have the same sentiments. My oldest son also wants to pursue a career in the Performing Arts naman (Music). I'm worried about the instability of the career and I thought that he'd to well in other fields dahil matalinong bata naman. But who am I to hinder his dreams, di ba? I have come to accept that he wants to be a musician. Besides, he is very good at what he does. I have shared these sentiments here. ReplyDeletei saw a docu about it, single long time ago. a rewarding job indeed if one makes it.
ReplyDeletehello, irene. i think it is but natural for most parents to be worried. but it is their happiness which is important. and that what makes us different from others. but in fairness to parents who wanted (and some even force them) their kids to take 'rewarding' courses, they may be just worried about their childrens' welfare like most of us parents.
And the MOMMY spoke. Yan ang gusto ko sa iyo Bing eh---understandable na nanay. As I've told you before I'm glad you've given your kids the freedom to choose their respective career paths. Kay can earn big by working in advertising agencies. Good luck sa kanya!
ReplyDeletei try to be as understanding as i can, nico. i dont want them to feel that they should take courses or do anything in which they cant hone their talents. thanks for the good wishes. :-)
ReplyDeleteyou're a very understanding parent. congrats to kay for passing the UP entrance exam. hindi biro ang maging iskolar ng bayan. and i tell you now bing to be prepared for it's not easy being a parent to one. sooner or later you'll find out what i mean.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha, "Between my happiness and theirs, it will be theirs that will take the lead. Never mind me."
ReplyDeleteBakit kaya laging ganito ang papel nating mga parents. Sobra pa sa bayani.
Ingat.
CONGRATS KAY... AND BING!
