Danny

It was his 41st birthday last March 6, 2005. It was not a big celebration like it was on his 40th birthday. Given the current situation, where bills and expenses are piling up, we have to cut a little on the celebration and do away with what is on hand.

Nevertheless, it was a happy celebration. He made all his friends happy again. He was happy, too, because the merrymaking was a success though not all of his friends were there. Everybody had fun, what with all the banters he hurls every once in a while mixed with his laughter that is so infectious, and with the nasty and mean jokes which everybody understood.

Danny is truly a person of gaiety. It is so easy for him to treat life that way – fun, laughter, jests, naughty remarks. You see and hear him most of the time happy. Perhaps that is his way of facing life’s hurdles. I know it is not that easy for him, being a stroke victim, for almost 17 years. But he had managed to live accordingly though not normally.

He always tells me that he wanted to live a little longer to see his children grow. And God is good to him, letting him see his daughter bloom like a beautiful bud and see his son grow very smart and dotingly loving him. He loves unconditionally and treats all his loved ones in ways we can never ever forget. He has his moods, all right, but leveling it with what he is as a husband, a father, and a son, will cover all the frailties.

I salute him with all respect. I admire him for the courage. I like the character of strength in him. I love every detail of his person.

Through years, he had proven to be that wonderful person I perceived him to be the first time we met…
